Meet JC de los Reyes 2010 Philippine Presidential Candidate... eerm who?

No disrespect to anyone wants to vote for JC de los Reyes but seriously, what was this guy thinking when he decided to run for president? The only credential he has to speak of is being a two time councilor of Olongapo City and this is also what's basically listed (and it's a very short list) in the website of their very own party called the Ang Kapatiran Party.
Just to prove my point, here is JC's "resume" from their website:

*His long time friendship with Nandy Pacheco, founder of Ang Kapatiran, who he worked with as early as 1996 led him to be the only winner of the party from among 30 national and local bets in the 2007 election. His election was a political comeback after a nine-year hiatus from local politics (JC was first elected councilor in 1995).
*His political career has mostly centered on countering traditional politics by asserting the principle of subsidiarity and the prophetic politics of personal and social transformation.
His passion and mission is to work toward genuine social justice.

I'm not really sure what he's trying to prove. He has no experience. He's basically just starting in his political career... and as much as I applaud him for being so ambitious as to aim high but maybe aiming for the highest position in the country while not going through any other position is too much of a far reach. The fact that he was endorsed by two bishops does not add to his credibility either. They probably like him because he has a B.A. in Theology. Besides that I also read in another blog post comment that he's the nephew of Gordon. Talk about weird.
Would you believe I actually know of one person who's actually going to vote for JC?? I haven't found out his reason yet but he seems pretty decided. I'm very interested to find out how he came to this decision. If you're one of those people thinking of voting for JC, let us know why. Who knows we might actually change our vote.
Final word for JC: Change your picture in your party's website. It's... well.. gayish. Hahaha! It's just my personal opinion but it's not very becoming or appropriate for someone who wants to run for president. It's more like a Facebook profile pic or a "I'm coming out" statement.

Thank God It's Yellow Friday: "Rally" for Noynoy in Makati CBD

I just heard news that Noynoy supporters will be trooping to Makati tomorrow and Friday hereafter until election day (except for Good Friday). According to the Noynoy Aquino for President website (http://www.noynoy.ph), this is NOT a rally. Take note: it's NOT a rally. There might not be any need to panic but perhaps just reason to add a little allowance to your travel time estimate if you're planning on going to Makati for a Friday gimmick.
Yellow clad Noynoy supporters will be assembling at the following points at 4:45pm and will stroll along the sidewalks from the assembly points to the Ayala Triangle Garden then already disperse as soon as the four groups converge at the garden.

• RCBC Plaza - Ayala Avenue corner Buendia
• People Support - Ayala Avenue corner Buendia
• McDonald's, Pasay Road corner Paseo de Roxas
• Sta. Potenciana Gate, Urdaneta Village

If this is the case, then I don't believe that they'll be causing any monstrous traffic jams so long as they keep to the sidewalks.
In any case, it will be quite a spectacle to see groups of yellow clad people walking the sidewalks and converging at one point.
I wish them all the best. So long as they don't cause traffic (especially since they picked traffic ridden Fridays of all days), I'm all for what they're trying to do even if I'm not yet a decided Noynoy supporter (but I'm definitely NOT a Villar or Erap supporter).
At the very least it seems like it's going to be a peaceful and unobtrusive "demonstration" of support for Noynoy.

Pacquiao Versus Clottey: What a Waste!

Manny Pacquiao has defended his WBO welterweight title with a comfortable points victory over Joshua Clottey in Dallas. The Filipino scored a 120-108, 119-109, 119-109 but could not find Clottey's breaking point as he maintained his proud record of never having been stopped.

The Ghanaian entered the ring with a flamboyant dance but he failed to show as much imagination once the fight started and Pacquiao was always on top.

"He's a very tough opponent. He was looking for a big shot," Pacquiao said after the fight, which took place in front of a crowd of 50,994, the biggest in the US for 17 years.

Pacquiao also revealed the he still has hopes that a potential fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr may still go ahead. "I want that fight, the world wants that fight, but it's up to him," he told Associated Press.

The pattern Saturday's fight would take was established early in the first round when, despite Clottey's peek-a-boo defence, Pacquiao still managed to advance against his taller opponent and throw punches with both hands from all angles. It was the same style that gave him spectacular wins in his past three fights and though Clottey was clearly the bigger fighter, he rarely sought to use his reach advantage.

Clottey's corner was urging him to take some risks late on but even in the final round, when he needed a knockout to win, the Ghanaian only sparingly dropped his guard.

Look at the picture and it's like you already watched the fight - all 12 rounds of it practically looked just like this - just at different parts of the ring probably.

I sat there are the coffee shop watching the "action" on the big screen and I was actually bored to death. Nothing was happening. We'd laugh a bit here and there because of some comment that some guy on Manny's coaching team would make like something about Clottey always stepping on his toes. Now that was actually pretty interesting to watch, I'd look at their toes and actually see Clottey stepping on Manny's feet.

It was also pretty funny when Clottey's coach would say something like "Alright. Let's get creative now. Let's start throwing punches!" The hilarious thing is I think he said that in the 8th or 10th round. What a hoot!

Besides that the fight was corny at best. It's like Clottey just wanted to make money off his fight with Pacquiao but never had any intentions of actually "fighting" with Pacquiao. The fights before the "main fight" actually had more oomph which is quite disappointing to say the least. Most people would actually argue that they already expected to be a lackluster fight. Perhaps that would explain why the normally packed National Sports Grill in Makati wasn't so for the Pacquiao-Clottey fight.

Oh well. Nonetheless, congratulations are in order for Manny Pacquaio! Good job for not getting so frustrated with Clottey! Oh and congratulations for bagging a reported 500 million!!! Can I get some? Even just 1 million? Hehehe!
