Around here (in the Philippines), she's really Call Center Barbie and why shouldn't call center agents have their own barbie?

There's a rock star barbie, malibu barbie, sales girl barbie, hairdresser barbie so why not a call center agent barbie when that's the most prevalent job in "developing" countries nowadays. In fact, try opening up the job classifieds and practically 85% of the entire spread consists of ads for call centers looking to recruit more call center agents. They even have different incentives to lure possible applicants to them... and they say we're in a recession?

Anyhoo, back to barbie:

Well, according to BBC, this is their description of Barbie and her new garb:

The new doll is decked out in black spangled leggings and a lime-green fitted tunic patterned with binary code, worn under a slinky waistcoat, with saddle-stitching detail. The ensemble is topped off with the requisite hot-pink accessories: glasses, watch and shoes. To emphasise her innate "techiness" she carries a pink laptop and sports a Bluetooth headset.

They were very specific weren't there from the glasses to the shoes.

I think they wanted her to be girlie yet still techie considering how nowadays the technology field is still considered a "man's world."

Well judge for yourself. The BBC article goes into specifics. Honestly, I think they're taking this Barbie thing way too seriously. They went as far as to analyze whether or not her hair and her clothes (including her shoes) were even really practical for actual call center work. I mean, "hello!" It's Barbie. She was never meant to be practical.
